Kaburaki and Hokuto's Amnesia Why Blick Winkel could cause Kaburaki and Hokuto to lose their memories but not Takeshi? Remember that BW has no memory of the 3D world before descending upon Takeshi, therefore a conflict does not occur--BW forges his own memory from what he seen from Takeshi's eyes. Similarly, Hokuto lost his memory in 2034 is precisely because of a conflict. Remember when BW descending to Hokuto, Hokuto knows that the year is 2034 but BW believes it is 2017. As the conflict of memory occurs, it can explain why Hokuto is without memory as BW possesses him. (It is proven that when BW overlaps with everyone in the Coco's ending, nobody loses their memory because everyone knows, or agrees, with reality and what happened, conflict does not occur.) Now it leaves how Kaburaki would lose his memory. One subjective explanation is that it is because BW is 2034 knows that "The Kid is without memory", thus affecting the Kid in 2017, which is Kaburaki. But isn't what happened in 2017 supposed to happen first? That when the 2017 incident happens, BW does not know about Hokuto? Then how he could has the "false memory" to think that the Shounen has amnesia when it hasn't happened yet? My theory is that BW is a 4D being, which could defy time and causality. It is perfectly sensible for BW to experience the 2034 incident first and then 2017 incident (just like we could choose either we go to Kid's perspective or Takeshi's perspective). I think this theory has something to do with the Cure ability in Never 7... but this "observation confirms existence" theory means "BW is being tricked to think 2034 = 2017 thus Kaburaki as the 2017's Shounen lost his memory" has holes, such as "why everything else is made the same? Like Tsugumi could be helping fixing the generator." But this theory does has its place as to answer questions like "how come the 2034 incident turns out almost exactly like 2017 including the flooding time/area?", note that You'haru isn't likely to plan every little things to happen in 2034... maybe, BW's subjective observation affected the turnout of the 2034 reality. This theory also can explain Kaburaki's periodically lost his memory in 2017 (in front of gift shop he forgot Takeshi's name and where she was at; later assume that he forgot he was the it in the kick the can game): BW is changing the 2017 reality to the way it think should be. (but it doesn't explain how why Kaburaki is the only one being affected.) Another possible answer for "why Kaburaki lost his memory" is... not because BW "expects", it is because BW has been physically overlapped with Kaburaki in at least one instance, causing a conflict of memory (like with Hokuto), resulting Kaburaki's amnesia. Assume that Kaburaki has his memory up until the point he collapsed in the Lemur suit in 2017 and Hokuto lost his memory before he met You'aki in 2034, there's a moment that young Kaburaki and Hokuto were unconscious in the infirmary after the Lemur suit event. BW, at this time, thinks that the entire setting is in 2017 and he is only crossing between characters (instead of time). While BW supposed to jump to Hokuto of 2034 from Takeshi of 2017, some accident happened and BW ends up on young Kaburaki of 2017! In BW's memory, it knows that "the Shounen is without memory". When he overlap with Kaburaki by mistake, BW cleared up Kaburaki's memory also. Remember the scene with Shounen jump into the pool? It was actually BW wants to seek liberation from Kaburaki, causing the kid to go crazy and jump into the pool. And later in 2034 Hokuto recollected when he lost his memory, he remembered about the pool. Obviously he lost his memory in the Rest area eating ice cream; that's like way earlier than the pool thing... don't mention he chased Sara also. This theory though doesn't give a corresponding explanation for later young Kaburaki's periodic memory loss and how he remembered his name near the end of 2017 incident. Plus young Kaburaki sensed the flooding in later of the week in 2017, is most likely a piece of memory of BW. (Though the first theory can explain this too as "BW expected it to happen") Of course the 3rd possibility for Kaburaki's amnesia is... not because of BW at all since no direct evidence from the game itself tells us anything about Kaburaki's condition. I personally think the second explanation gives a better answer to link Kaburaki, BW, and the amnesia as a whole... the first theory is more probable on term of reused the power of Cure from Never 7. Either way, it is almost completely sure that the game meant to have Kaburaki and BW have some sort of relationship. |
